Bold “Visionary” 1995

Yes readers, that is indeed Naked Lunch author William Burroughs narrating this soap powder commercial, in a continuation of our “mad mid 90s” theme. This spot was produced by legendary ad agency Leo Burnett of Chicago.

In other news…today’s sad anniversary is even sadder this year with the passing of Chris Cornell, surely the most convincing rock star of the last 25 years. I also heard today that former Guerilla Studios team mate Marvin Slack has died of lung cancer. My deepest condolences to their families and friends.

I didn’t know he owned that studio. Maybe there’s another Marvin Slack. The late Marvin often went by the name Marvin Black. He was an excellent engineer and a super funny guy, always kept the room laughing. He could party harder than almost anyone I ever knew. His father was a judge and sometimes we would call Marvin “Judge Mental” for his strongly worded opinions. Marvin is much missed by many…

Yep, that’s my old friend Marvin, such sad news, really wish I’d kept in touch. I have fantastic memories of him, he really was a bad influence on me.
Thank you for getting back to me. A
